The Challenge
A consumer brand developing a premium beauty device needed mold-ready CAD for a two-part housing with soft-touch overmold zones and a sealed battery bay. Industrial design called for thin cosmetic walls and hidden parting lines — initial CAD failed mold-flow review for fill and weld-line risk on the curved front face.
Our Approach
- Rebalanced wall thickness and added discreet ribs behind cosmetic surfaces
- Split parting line to follow ID curvature; planned texture depth vs draft budget
- Defined two-shot/overmold sequence and material bond compatibility
- Gate analysis with molder — hot tip on internal rib network
- Delivered shrink-adjusted CAD, mold-flow notes, and A-surface protection spec
